Ekapeli Alku is primarily designed for preschool-aged children or older students who need practice in recognizing letter-sound connections. Ekapeli is based on observations and research findings from the Longitudinal Study of Child Language Development at the University of Jyväskylä.
Ekapeli was developed to assist children, especially those who struggle with reading and need extra practice. However, Ekapeli is also suitable for older players who have difficulties with literacy. It can be used at home, school, preschool, or by speech therapists.
The game can be particularly helpful if there is a history of reading difficulties in the child's family or if there have been difficulties observed in the child's language development. By playing the game, children can get effective additional practice that can help facilitate their reading progress alongside their peers.
